NAOS was founded by Jean-Noël Thorel, pharmacist-biologist. At a very early stage he overthrew the established understanding of the beauty industry, going so far as to shift its paradigm.
Jean-Noël Thorel began his career in a pharmacy and then worked as a young director in the pharmaceutical industry. In May 1977, he decided to go out on his own as a designer and inventor. The adventure began in the back of a warehouse in Rungis (near Paris), with 2000 francs (about 300 euros) in his pocket.
Jean-Noël Thorel built trust-based connections with scientists, dermatologists, pharmacists and pharmaceutical laboratories which enabled him to develop and sell products combining a biological function within the epidermis and a cosmetic surface function.
The symbol of NAOS logo echoes the story of The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, whose poetic vision of relationships deeply inspired the humanist vision of our founder.
The NAOS name comes from a star in the Puppis constellation which, one day, will be one of the brightest stars in the sky. The star symbol echoes the story of The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, whose poetic vision of relationships inspired the humanist vision of its founder.
NAOS has an ambition: become a company world-renowned for the universal value and originality of its approach.
